1a food and service 👍
We were guests for a weekend with half board. The food was excellent and the service staff very friendly. The hotel is well located for entry to various hiking routes. We can only recommend the hotel.
beautifully located hotel, very quiet location, good food. Room with modern bathroom and balcony with lake view.
Very nice kitchen and extensive whiskey corner in a beautiful setting
Very nice house and facility. Staff a bit rude. Corona tired !!!!
I don’t understand Germany.
I stayed in the hotel from 21 Sept 2020-23 Sept 2020. I did had a negative experience with regards to the poliy. We explicilty looked on the search filter for the hotel choice to see if dogs are allowed. This was true for this hotel. Therefore I booked this hotel. When we arrived at the premises at put all our suitcased and stuff outside the car, the blonde lady approached us, explained us the dinner times etc. We were havily packed, included the dog bed and the portable dog cage with the dog inside. The lady checked us out and asked if she could help us with our luggage and belongings. We said we didn't need further assistance. On the parking lot, she handed us the key of the room, number 35 and we went to the room. After that, we walked with the dog on their premises and the surrounding forrest. The day after, at breakfast, the business owner came to us and told us that we had to pay a fine of 75 euro for the dog. The reason was that we were given a dog-free room and we had not told beforehand that we took a dog with us. He argued he needed to deepclean the room for guest who are allergic to dogs. It is not immediate clear on the website that you need to report a dog, but it is stated in the house rules which are available on Booking.com. I have to admit that I did not done that because I tought the search filter for a dog was sufficient. On the other hand, the blonde lady had checked us out and saw that we had a dog. Nevertheless she gave us the key of a dogfree room. At the end, we needed to pay in total of 91 euro for the dog (which is two times eight euro per night plus the 75 euro fine.). Even tough I admit my own responsability by not requesting the dog beforehand, I feel that the owners took disadvantage of my ignorance because we were seen with all the dogg stuff and the dog at the moment of the checkin. The food was not very good and very expensive. I wanted to eat an unusual fish, for example grilled or smoked, so I can cook myself. Only the sauce was delicious. I will not go back here, very disappointed.
Location top, food top, service top! The rooms are super comfortably furnished, the surroundings are beautiful and the environment with this whole "sweaty" situation is very exemplary! Would come again anytime!
The food is an absolute pleasure. I have never eaten such a delicious trout in my life. I'm excited.
Outstanding food! 1a quality. We are very satisfied and it is definitely worth the trip.
We went to the Forellenhof to eat today. I usually rarely write a review - only if it was really good or the other reviews just aren't fair. Both are the case here. The trout dishes are simply top class. The trout soup is a dream, the poached fillets are extremely tasty. The game ragout also tastes very good. The service was very friendly and, despite the busy terrace, the service speed was very good and appropriate for a good meal. Price-performance ratio is also good. To be recommended without reservation.
Last week my wife and I went to the restaurant for lunch. Since I have a lot of food allergies and an intestinal disease, I only ordered the salad with vinegar and oil. This worked perfectly with the nice waitress Clara. The day before yesterday we were in the restaurant again. Also ordered the salad like that. However, this one came with very hard spice grains. I complained about this to the older waitress (probably the boss). I said to her: "if I eat this I can go to the nearest hospital with my intestinal disease". Her answer (unfriendly tone): she would have ordered it in the kitchen and she couldn't change it. This is not hospitable behavior, especially since we paid 100 EURO for the two visits. After the first visit we had considered spending a few days vacation in the hotel, but that was done. The two stars are for the behavior of the young waitress.
We were with a group of 5 people from 18.06. until 21.06.20 as a guest. We were enthusiastic about the furnishing of our rooms, the friendly and committed support, especially under the current corona restrictions of the catering trade. The food is varied and excellent. The relaxation was really good for all of us. We wish the owner family and the employees all the best and much success, the times are not easy for the catering and hotel business. We are happy to have asked for another option for this September. We will also use the "trial days" with our families. Until then, stay healthy Harold Ries
The food is still very delicious. We were there 10 years ago. Those who like whiskey have an excellent selection here. The family business tries very hard, everyone is very friendly and accommodating. Very idyllic location. Even during corona times, you can take a good and safe vacation here. Breakfast plentiful. Hiking trails directly from the house.
The family-run hotel is located in the idyllic Hahnenbach valley with beautiful circular hiking trails. We stayed there a few days before Pentecost with half board and enjoyed the stay very much. The room with a balcony was very nice to the lake. The excellent cuisine with regional products was professionally presented by the attentive and friendly service. We would love to come back.
We had a great, impressive and relaxing stay. Excellent cuisine. Thank you for the whole friendly team! We look forward to your next break
From the outside, the hotel / restaurant looks very attractive, inside it looks even better. What moves me to the rather bad review is the service. We passed the trout farm as a hiker. After the great reviews we were very happy to eat there. Unfortunately, we were immediately fed when asked if we would have reserved. We denied this. On request if we could at least have something to drink, we were told that they were booked. We asked if at least on the terrace, we were very hesitant left on the terrace. The waitress came in, asked what we wanted to drink (no drink menu!) And wanted to go immediately after serving the drinks we paid. During the 20 minutes we were there, other guests sat at 2 tables other guests. Very questionable the whole thing ... can not understand this, we will not go there any more and I will not recommend this hotel / restaurant!
Nice hotel in the middle of some very beautiful hiking trails. Rooms are clean and newly renovated. The food is good with an own trout farm. Run as a family business the organization of the work processes is rather bad and the owners (especially the "lady" of the house) may come across as moody and unwilling to answer requests.
Are dogs welcome? No. Is it on the website? No. Do they take table reservations from anybody inc. those 20 million German families with dogs? Yes. When do you get informed about their unbreakable policy? By the entrance door. Are the staff flexible to find a solution for you? No. Will the staff have a suggestion where you can eat and take your dog with you? No. Three friend of us went for a winter hike and camped in the nearby Castle Schmidtburg. Reserved a table for three a week in advance and when we got there hungry and tired after a wonderful hike, we had this unwelcoming atmosphere. I asked why they have this no pet policy. The answer was that some guests might have dog allergy ... 😁😁 in Germany?! where seems like pet dogs are just as important family members as anybody else? I must say that I have an itchy allergic reaction from this level of service. Better keep away from Hotel Forellenhof Bundenbach. This place needs Gordon Ramsey and the Hotel Nightmare team for fixing.
We were here in the summer as a hiker on the Saar-Hunsrück Steig. The rooms are very big and nice. Just like the bathroom. Not so great was that the wifi did not work properly and you have hardly any reception in the valley. The sea side was a little too loud for my taste. The breakfast buffet is plentiful. All this has its price. For a hiking hotel it is already very expensive. Especially since you could not take the bread from the breakfast for free. I would have expected the price. There was also a problem with the water. There was no drinking water in the rooms. There was a free bottle of water for brushing your teeth ready. But it was not nice.
Very idyllic hotel, however, the breakfast buffet was not my cup of tea. They tried to contact me by email and told me the complete breakfast buffet and what there was. But it wasn't about the products but rather about the presentation of them. It was too dark and too narrow for me and it had absolutely nothing to do with the selection.
Wonderful cuisine: Nice, capable service. Great dishes, good selection and taste a pleasure. Fish from own breeding and game from the homely hunting. Value for money perfectly okay.
Modern rooms and beautiful view of the forest and throut lake. A few hikings routes start from the hotel. And has a good restaurant that serves own fish and wild meat. Very remote.
Great hotel :-) There are even gluten-free alternatives (e.g. breakfast rolls). Thank you!!! Very nice staff! WiFi available everywhere ... very good because we didn't have a cell phone network (perfect for relaxation and stress relief! Only had WhatsApp on and off now and then ;-) The restaurant is great. Sooo delicious fish (trout). I took the breakfast coffee to my room and enjoyed it on the balcony in the morning sun. Hammer. Very dog-friendly / suitable. Four-legged friends are of course only allowed to be outside on the terrace. That's a good thing or the law. Quiet location in the middle of the green at the trout ponds, at the end of a small side street. The information folder in the room lists all the beautiful hiking destinations in the area. From the hotel you are right in the forest and have wonderful paths. Large parking lot and payment only with EC or cash. Thanks to the hotel
Good hotel overall. Not much too do around the hotel though, especially on Monday as this is a day of rest. Clean rooms, nature all around and breakfast okay.
great getaway to fish or eat fish at least
Visited the restaurant as a walk-in with friends. We tried the local fish, that this place is known for, which were amazing. The service, however, was incompetent. They wouldn't come to out table to serve us, but we had to ask for everything one by one: ask for the menus, ask them to take our orders... etc. Wouldn't recommend this place if you loose your patience fast.
Great workers
It is a fine hotel and the whiskytasting with the owner is great! You can feel he loves his whisky's. He is very passionate about it. We will come back surely.
